Live Concert Photography: The Shondes with Slingshot Dakota and Permanent Wave at Shea Stadium 9/17/16
Currently comprised of founding duo Louisa Solomon (vocals, bass) and Elijah Olberman (violin, vocals) along with newest members Courtney Robbins (guitar) and Alex Smith (drums), the Brooklyn-based punk rock quartet The Shondes have developed a reputation for an aesthetic and sound that possess elements of riot grrl/feminist punk, rock, pop and Klezmer, earnest, heart-on-your-sleeve lyrics based around Solomon’s personal experiences and the band members’ Judaism and political beliefs paired around rousingly anthemic hooks — and for a passionate live show with the brassy Solomon at the lead. The band has been touring to support their recently released, gorgeous, swooning and earnest, fifth full-length effort, Brighton and tour included their triumphant album release show at Williamsburg, Brooklyn’s Shea Stadium. Check out photos from the show.

Comprised of Carly Comando (keys, vocals) and Tom Patterson (drums, vocals), the Bethlehem, PA-based duo Slingshot Dakota specialize in a riotous and earnest synth punk primarily based around the personal experiences of the bandmembers and of their loved ones.

Opening the evening was the Brooklyn-based trio Permanent Wave. Comprised of Jessica Jurgens (bass, vocals), Chicago Figueroa (guitar, vocals) and Tre D’Amborcia (drums) that specialize in a sound that possesses elements of post-punk, surf rock and disco to craft material that’s punchy and yet dance floor-friendly.
