New Audio: Colbourne & Sankey Share Shimmering and Yearning “See Your Face”

Nottinghamshire, UK-based indie pop duo Colbourne & Sankey — Steve Colbourne and Mitch Sankey — released their fourth and latest album, Down the Lines earlier this year. Drive by a pure, lifelong dedication to their craft, the British duo operate with no pretensions, focusing on the raw emotional power of their music. Sonically. their material frequently paris driving bass lines, shimmering retro-inspired synths with relatable and lived-in lyricism.

Since their formation, the duo have had a straightforward yet ambitious mission: they simply want to “write and record music forever” while continuously “searching for the perfect melody” to share with music lovers everywhere.

“See Your Face,” Down the Lines’ latest single is a shimmering and deliberately crated blend of blue-eyed/Northern soul, 60s and 70s pop, dream pop and New Zealand-styled jangle that showcases the duo’s uncanny knack for catchy hooks paired with earnest, lived-in lyricism. In the case of “See Your Face,” the song is a mid-tempo, old-timey ballad, the sort that’s especially rare these days.

“With ‘See Your Face’ and the wider album, we really wanted to capture something timeless,” the duo says. “We want to cast our spells over the world with these songs, while simultaneously building brides into industry to write for other artists, who can bring our melodies to new stages.”
