Fronted by its founding member, primary arranger and pianist Scott Bradlee, Postmodern Jukebox is a collective of rotating musicians and collaborators, who specialize in re-working and re-arranging modern popular music into genres popular in the early 20th century — namely swing-era and big band-era jazz. The collective’s YouTube channel is so popular, that it has 1.8 million subscribers and has amassed over 425 million views, and as a result the members of the collective have toured across four continents.
Back in February, Scott Bradlee and company invited renowned singer/songwriter Nicole Atkins to record a smoky and soulful jazz ballad/jazz standard rendition of David Bowie’s “Heroes” that leans towards both 30s era big band jazz and pop while hinting at early pop.
