Prodigy’s death as a result of sickle cell anemia complications hit close to home. At the time, he was four years or so older than me — and I grew up listening to Mobb Deep on the radio every single weekend for years. I was always struck by the fact that he left us far too soon.
Interestingly, today would have been the emcee’s 46th birthday. And I wanted to pay some tribute to one of Queens’ best. Happy birthday, Prodigy. Happy birthday, wherever you are.
