For those of you, who may not know, Nile Rodgers has written, co-written, produced, co-produced and/or performed some of the biggest pop hits of the past 45 years. Diana Ross‘ “I’m Coming Out”? He wrote that. David Bowie‘s “Let’s Dance”? He cowrote that. Daft Punk‘s “Get Lucky”? He cowrote that. Madonna‘s Like a Virgin? He produced that. He also collaborated with Duran Duran on some of their biggest hits of the 80s. Oh, and he was responsible for CHIC’s smash hit success of the mid 70s and early 80s.
We almost lost him a few years ago from cancer. But thankfully, he’s still here and kicking ass. And because today is his 68th birthday, I wanted to celebrate the man behind some of our most beloved pop songs. Happy birthday, Nile! May there be many, many, many more!
