Throwback: Happy Belated 60th Birthday, Sen Dog!

Advertisements

At this point, we’ve made it through about 90% of the year. It’s been a brutal soul-sucking slog of a year hasn’t it? But the show must go on as they say.

So, November is a busy month of music birthdays.

Cypress HIll’s Sen Dog celebrated his 60th — yes, ya’ll 60th! — birthday yesterday. Along with his group mates B Real and DJ Muggs, the trio’s first five albums were critically acclaimed and commercially successful, selling over 20 million copies globally while amassing multi-platinum and platinum certifications.

Along with a handful of acts including NWA, MC Eiht, Ice T, Too $hort and a list of others, Cypress Hill are considered pioneers and legends of West Coast hip-hop. And interestingly enough, they were the first hip-hop group to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Happy belated birthday, legend! May there be many, many more!

The Joy of Violent Movement is a completely independent and completely D.I.Y. media outlet. Over the course of this site’s 15+ year history, I’ve used my fiercely independent stance to cover music with an eclectic and global perspective that a lot of other publications just don’t have — and will likely never have.

To that end, I could use your support to continue to keep bringing you my unique global perspective on music. There are a number of ways that you can support this work.

I’ve been told that some people would prefer to make a one-time donation because it’s easy and less of an obligation. So, if you’re able to make a one-time donation, there’s a donation box below.

If you can give more regularly, please feel free to check out my Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TheJoyofViolentMovement.

Anything you can give is very much appreciated. It can and does make a real difference, y’all.
