Chuck Mangione, one of jazz’s great multi-instrumentalists — who was best known for flugelhorn, trumpet and keys — died today. His 1978 smash hit “Feels So Good” may be one of the most recognizable songs ever written. If you’ve been conscious since the 1970s either you or your folks were familiar — or were fans.
Speaking of that, when I mentioned to my mom that Mangione died, she told me that she and my father saw him back in the 1970s.
Rest in peace, sir!
