As a blogger, I receive emails from PR firms, labels and artists from all over the world. Recently, I received an email regarding a young, up-and-coming electronic music artist and producer from Derby, UK by the name of Josh Mortimer, who writes. performs and records under the moniker of MORRT. Within the first few months of producing, Moritmer’s debut single “Let You Go” was discovered by BBC Radio 1 personality B. Traits. Now within the first year of his musical career, he’s remixed tracks by MNEK, Route 94 and CeCe Peniston and has developed a reputation for a sound influenced by Hot Since 82, Friend Within, Wilfred Giroux, Chris Greswell and Karma Kid

His latest remix is a slick, old school house music remix of Grades’ “Freedom” which consists of a looped soulful vocal sample, layers of synths, and room-rattling drums, hot flashes of cymbals. It’s the sort of remix that you would expect a forward-thinking DJ to play this in a club to get a crowd up and dancing.
