Formed back in 2023. Brooklyn-based indie duo Trinket — Lightheaded‘s and Betty Brite‘s Madison Kate Profitt and S.C.A.B.’s Sean Carmargo — have quickly carved out their own corner of the local indie scene with their debut EP, 2024’s New Hobby, which saw them establishing a signature sound featuring warm, syrupy melodies paired with chiming and crunchy guitars. Adding to a growing reputation locally and elsewhere, the duo have opened for Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Heavenly.
The duo recently signed to Brooklyn-based label Take Care Records, who just released their newest single “If Not Soon Then Now.” Built around fuzzy power chords and syrupy sweet melodies, “If Not Soon Then Now” showcases the duo’s ability to craft catchy hooks and rousingly anthemic, grunge-era influenced choruses paired with earnest, lived-in lyrics. “This song is very directly about starting a relationship with someone new; it’s exciting, but you quickly realize that insecurities, fears, and things you’ve dealt with in past relationships don’t go away just because you’ve started over,” the band explains. “It’s also about having something that you’re excited about and are scared you’re going to ruin it with those insecurities. It’s almost like just the fear of it makes your worries come true.”
Directed by Sydney Tate, the accompanying video is anchored around a mischievous sense of whimsy featuring the band playing pretend with paper-made items and other absurdities on Brooklyn’s streets.
The duo’s debut is slated for release sometime next year. But in the meantime, the duo have two, upcoming local area dates — a headlining October 28, 2026 show at Sultan Room’s Rooftop. The duo will open for Starcleaner Reunion at TV Eye on November 7, 2026. Check out the tour dates below. And you can get more information on these shows by checking out the band’s IG: @triiinket.
