Austin Psych Fest is a partnership between:
The Reverberation Appreciation Society, the record and label and creative collective behind the curation, artwork and aesthetic of both LEVITATION and Austin Psych Fest. Since 2010, the label imprint has released records by key bands in the national and global psych, shoegaze and garage rock scenes including Frankie and the Witch Fingers, Ringo Deathstarr and Night Beats. They kicked off their Live at Levitation archive series in 2021 with live releases from King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Kikagaku Moyo, The Black Angels, Primal Scream and more. Levitation Sessions, the imprint’s live album and film series has captured bands like Osees, Ty Segall, SLIFT, Goat, Windhand, Dead Meadow, Death Valley Girls and more performing in unique locations and pressed to limited edition vinyl. Their online shop offers an ever-expanding selection of LEVITATION and Austin Psych Fest official merchandise, limited edition vinyl from other labels, guitar pedals, turntables, art prints, one of a kind tie-dyes and much more.
Austin Psych Fest is presented by Austin-based independent promoters Resound Presents. Comprised of the team behind Fun Fun Fun Festival, Resound books and presents over 1,000 shows in Central Texas each year. Resound is a small team of experts, who work hard to make live music awesome across the stages of Central Texas — one club at a time. With a primary focus on bringing artists to music venues and other unique locations in Austin and San Antonio, Resound offers booking for live music, comedy, podcasts and more, as well as creative marketing and design services for national and local touring musicians, artists and brands.
Founded back in 2008 by members of The Black Angels and a collection of friends, Austin Psych Fest helped inspired the creation of similar events across the globe. The festival was renamed LEVITATION in honor of Austin-based psych rock pioneers The 13th Floor Elevators, who reunited and performed at LEVITATION 2015 for the band’s 50th anniversary. The event has stayed true to its original mission — to be a hub for the psych rock scene, while expanding into metal, electronic music, punk and all manner of independent and underground music.
For well over a decade now, LEVITATION has delivered eclectic lineups that span psych, dream pop, punk, indie rock, metal, darkwave, electronic music and more, helping carry the spirit of freewheeling 1960s sonic experimentation into contemporary times. For the attendee, it’s much like a beloved record collection manifested into a four-day weekend, with lineups that frequently span continents and generations — and is a heady amalgamation of vintage gear, immersive light shows and visuals, buzzing amps, moody synths, good vibes and good times. LEVITATION’s 2026 edition will take place September 10, 2026 – September 13, 2026.
Austin Psych Fest will take place May 8, 2026-May 10, 2026 with an intimate setting and two stage lineup at The Far Out Lounge. Now, preceding LEVITATION in the fall, the 2026 edition of Austin Psych Fest marks the fifth edition since its return to Austin.
Since its inception in 2008, Austin Psych Fest has embraced an expansive definition of psychedelia — not as a single genre or style, but more as a feeling — tracing its roots from 1960s experimentation through modern interpretations, shaped by reverb-soaked guitars, hypnotic rhythms and adventurous songwriting. The 2026 continues that long-held tradition with al lineup spanning classic psych, indie rock, soul, cumbia, global psych and much more.
Friday, May 8, 2026 will be headlined The Flaming Lips, whose live show blurs the lines between concert, communal experience and sensory experience. The festival’s first day will be rounded out by DIIV, MOMMA, Texas-based shoegazers GLARE, Brazilian JOVM mainstays Boogarins, Starcleaner Reunion and local psych scene stalwarts Holy Wave.
Saturday, May 9, 2026 will be headlined The Black Angels, who will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of their debut album Passover by playing the album live in its entirety. The festival’s second day will be rounded out by Ty Segall, Melody’s Echo Chamber, Venice-based psych outfit New Candys, pan-Arabic funk innovators Al-Qasar and local favorites Grocery Bag and Annabelle Chairlegs.
Sunday May 10 2026 will be headlined by acclaimed soul act Thee Sacred Souls. The festival’s final day will be rounded out by instrumental outfit La Lom, Latin soul and bolero act Trish Toledo, Night Beats, Italian outfit Dumbo Gets Mad, Peruvian chica revivalists Money Chica, Como Las Movies and a DJ set from acclaimed producer and artist Adrian Quesada, tying together the festival’s far-reaching and eclectic musical journey.
Festival organizers will be announcing more artists soon. But in the meantime, tickets are on sale now with 3-Day Passes and Single-Day Tickets are available along with an extremely limited number of Early Bird options, while supplies last. The full lineup can be seen below.
