Throwback: Happy 64th Birthday, Chuck D!

August is a very busy month in music history:

  • MTV was launched 43 years ago today
  • Coolio was born on this day 61 years ago
  • Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott celebrates his 65th birthday today

Lastly, the legendary and pioneering Chuck D. celebrates his 64th birthday today. His role in popularizing hip-hop across the world is towering — and as an avid music listener, Public Enemy‘s work has played a major part of my life: The first cassette tape that I bought with my own money was Public Enemy’s The Apocalypse 91 . . . The Enemy Strikes Black

Happy birthday, brother! May there be many, many, many, many more!
