Throwback: Happy 70th Birthday Luther Vandross!

Yesterday was a long and emotional day. I was supposed to meet a friend with the intention of taking shots around town but when we both heard that there was a verdict in the Derek Chauvin murder trial, that changed things up dramatically. I wound up sitting at Clem’s longer than I intended: most of that time was spent crying into pints of Guinness and not knowing what to think or how to really feel. There’s a part of me that still feels as though this is a collective fever dream. And when I wake up tomorrow, it’ll be an even uglier reality.

April 20 would have been Luther Vandross‘ 70th birthday. And I thought it would be appropriate to celebrate one of the great male R&B vocalists, who’s been missed since his all too tragic death 16 years ago. Happy birthday, Luther! Happy birthday, wherever you are!
