The past few days have been difficult, exhausting and rage-inducing, and for all the reasons that they should be. But music is what makes us human — and can help us heal.
This week has been yet another very busy week in music history:
- Sun Ra Arkestra‘s legendary music director and multi-instrumentalist Marshall Allen turned 98 on the 25th.
- Stevie Nicks turned 74 on the 26th.
- And tragically, we lost Depeche Mode‘s co-founder Andy “Fletch” Fletcher and Yes‘ Alan White.
Miles Davis, arguably one of the most influential and acclaimed artists of the 20th century was born 96 years ago yesterday. So let’s celebrate the legendary artist and his extensive catalog of beautiful, forward-thinking work. Happy birthday, Miles! Happy birthday, wherever you are!
