This year has been a brutal, soul-sucking slog. And we have at least 3 more brutal and soul-sucking years left of this administration to go — if they don’t kill us all, first. So let’s get to it.

Echo and the Bunnymen‘s first dummer Pete de Freitas was born 64 years ago on August 2. We lost him back in 1989 at the tragically young age of 27. He remains one of the most important parts of Echo and the Bunnymen’s first three albums — 1980’s Porcupine, 1981’s Heaven Up Here and 1984’s Ocean Rain.
Happy belated birthday, Pete! Happy birthday, wherever you are!
