I was saddened to hear that Amadou & Mariam‘s Amadou Bagayoko died yesterday.
Their music brought people around the world quite a bit of much-needed joy. But importantly, they introduced the larger world to the beauty of Mali and Africa. I’ve said this to a lot of friends and colleagues, some of the world’s most talented and creative folks come from the motherland.
Long live Amadou & Mariam! Long live Amadou Bagayoko!
