I was at home watching last night’s New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays game when I learned of Coolio‘s untimely death at 59. If you were remotely conscious during the 90s, you may remember how huge Coolio was at the time: You couldn’t escape “Gangsta’s Paradise” and “Fantastic Voyage,” but as those truly in the know will tell you, the Compton-born emcee had a collection of great songs.
59 is still way too young. So let’s celebrate the man and his music — with the understanding that life is way too short. Rest in peace, brother.
