Earlier this year, L7 announced they were hitting the road for the final tour as a band, and that first leg of the tour would take place this October. Last week, the band announced that co-founder Jennifer Finch was diagnosed with a form of aggressive brain cancer, which would prevent her from making the tour. The band, along with Finch’s family announced a GoFundMe to help pay for her medical care, recovery and ongoing care, which would be understandably quite expensive.
Yesterday, a few days after the announcement of the GoFundMe, L7and Finch’s family announced that she had died — at the all too young age of 59.
As a teen in the 1990s, L7 was huge — and the band inspired a ton of young women to kick ass. And the world is better for it. I photographed L7 once back in 2019 and they fucking kicked ass.
Long live Jennifer Finch! Long live L7!
