Presented by the Consulate General of Sweden in New York and Export Music Sweden and curated and produced by Luger with additional support from The Swedish Institute, Sweden Makes Music is an annual showcase of up-and-coming and contemporary Swedish music at Baby’s All Right. Last month’s Sweden Makes Music featured Stockholm-based DJ and electronic music artist DJ Clea, American-born, Swedish-based singer/songwriter and pop artist Mapei, Malmo-based rapper Le Sinner and Stockholm-based pop artist Elias. Check out photos from the showcase below.

DJ Clea is a rapidly rising Stockholm-based DJ and electronic music producer, who has developed a reputation for a melodic and progressive take on house music that’s crafted for late-night club floors and lazy summer afternoons.

Mapei is an American-born, Swedish-based artist, who has developed a reputation for a sound that mischievously connects the dots between soul music, electro pop and hip-hop — and in a way that’s been compared as M.I.A. remixed by Frankie Knuckles and  Chance the Rapper. The American-born, Swedish-based artist’s Sweden Makes Music set was centered around her recently released album Sensory Overload.

With the release of his debut single “Paris,” which landed at #1 on Spotify’s US Viral 50, the Malmo-based rapper Le Sinner rapidly emerged into the international hip-hop scene, eventually receiving praise from DJ SnakeXXL and Vibe, as well as airplay on Beats 1 radio.

With the release of his full-length debut, 2018’s Entwined, as well as two follow-up singles “I Give You The Best” and “Neon Lights” released last year, the Stockholm-based pop artist Elias has received praise from Noisey and i-D — with Noisey describing him as “a concoction of James Blake soulfulness and Bon Iver potential” and i-D comparing his “gorgeously profound voice” with FKA Twigs, Spooky Black, Anthony Hamilton and Sam Cooke.
