- The legendary Stephen Stills, known for his work with Buffalo Springfield, Crosby Stills and Nash, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, as well as for being a solo artist, celebrates his 80th birthday on January 3
- Joy Division and New Order founder Bernard Sumner celebrates his 69th birthday today

I’ve openly mentioned this quite a bit on Twitter over the years: I’m a huge R.E.M. fan. I’m probably as big of an R.E.M. fan as I am a U2 fan. As it turns out, R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe turns 65 — 65! — today.
