We’ve somehow made it to May y’all. 5 months in to a brutal slog of a calendar year. I’m exhausted and fed up. And I’m sure most of y’all out there feel the same. The terrible thing is that my sense is that things are going to get a lot worse. We’re in hell.
But there’s music, art, small pleasures, and every day joys. We’ll cling to that as much as possible.

The legendary Stevie Wonder celebrates his 75th birthday today. Wonder’s influence on modern music is towering: Artists across R&B, pop, soul, gospel, funk and jazz have all cited him and his work as an influence on their work. He’s also responsible for helping to popularize the use of synthesizers in the 70s — and for being a key figure in the album era.
So let’s celebrate Stevie’s life and music today. Happy birthday, Stevie! May there be many, many more!
