We’ve somehow made it to May y’all. 5 months in to a brutal slog of a calendar year. I’m exhausted and fed up. And I’m sure most of y’all out there feel the same. The terrible thing is that my sense is that things are going to get a lot worse. We’re in hell.
But there’s music, art, small pleasures, and every day joys. We’ll cling to that as much as possible.

As I often say around here, we need to give our legends their flowers while we have them. The legendary Ronald Isley celebrates his 84th birthday today. The Isley Brothers are among the most sampled groups ever — with their work being sampled over 800 times by various artists across an eclectic array of genres and styles.
Additionally, Ronald Isley is one of the most imitable, influential vocalists to have ever done it — and his influence on R&B, soul and pop has been towering. And understandably so!
