Throwback: Happy 99th Birthday, Miles Davis!

We’ve somehow made it to May y’all. 5 months in to a brutal slog of a calendar year. I’m exhausted and fed up. And I’m sure most of y’all out there feel the same. The terrible thing is that my sense is that things are going to get a lot worse. We’re in hell.

But there’s music, art, small pleasures, and every day joys. We’ll cling to that as much as possible.

Miles Davis was born 99 years ago today. His influence on modern music has remained towering — and it’s understandably why. He was a pioneer of both bop and jazz fusion, who recorded some of the most beloved albums ever recorded, while introducing us to a long list of artists, who have become equally beloved as well, including Ron Carter, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, and so many others.
