- Metallica‘s James Hetfield celebrated his 62nd birthday on August 3

- Beastie Boys‘ Adam Yauch, a.k.a. MCA was born 60 years ago on August 5

I am of the firm belief that we should give our legends and pioneers their flowers while we still have them. I’m belatedly celebrating Kurtis Blow, one of the first rappers to be signed to a major label. Happy birthday, brother! May there be many, many more!
