Throwback: R.I.P. Bob Weir

I was sitting at the Abracadabra Café in Ridgewood when I learned that the co-founder of the legendary Grateful Dead, Bob Weir died after a battle with cancer.

I’ll be honest, I was never a big Dead fan; but there were a couple of their songs I really dug “Touch of Gray” and “Truckin'” are personal favorites. I just never dug in much further than that. What I will say is that I understand and appreciate what Weir and the Dead meant for their legion of fans. And anyone, who brings joy, good times and connection should be exalted in my book.

I actually saw Weir play once. He opened for the equally legendary Willie Nelson, during his traveling Outlaw Tour stop at Forest Hills Stadium.

My thoughts are with Weir’s family, many bandmates and fans. Long live Bob Weir!
