I was returning home from a brief stop at Queens Center Mall when I heard that ZZ Top drummer Frank Beard died. He was 77. As a child of the 1980s, whenever I think of ZZ Top. I immediately say to myself “the rock sound of the 80s” — and that they had a collection of incredibly catchy hits including “Legs,” “Sharp Dressed Man,” “Gimme All Your Lovin'” and a bunch more. Billy Gibbons’ and Dusty Hill’s long flowing hair and beards and the souped up Ford with the ZZ Top logo also immediately came to mind.
Seriously though, those boys could play that boogie blues in a way that would make
Happy birthday, Billy! May there be many, many, many more!John Lee Hooker proud. Long live Dusty Hill! Long live Frank Beard! Long live ZZ Top!
