Throwback: Black History Month: Meshell Ndegeocello

Today is the 17th day of Black History Month. As we go through the month, I’m going to talk about a collection of Black artists. It’ll be fairly comprehensive and eclectic list — although it won’t be a complete list.

So far I’ve talked about:

Meshell Ndegeocello is arguably one of the most original, interesting and uncompromising artist of her era — and of almost any era. Her work has seen her bounce around and mesh elements of funk, soul, neo-soul, jazz, hip-hop, R&B rock and more. And in my opinion, she’s criminally under-appreciated and overlooked as a songwriter and musician.
