I didn’t initially know this but this past week was a rather auspicious week for music: Raekwon and Rob Zombie celebrated birthdays on January 12. Alicia Keys birthday is January 13. Dave Grohl and LL Cool J celebrated birthdays on January 14. Aaliyah‘s birthday was yesterday. And those were the birthdays that I managed to look up and/or came to my mind.
If you came of age in the mid-90s, Aaliyah’s music would have probably been part of your life’s soundtrack — or you might have had a crush on her. Yesterday, she would have turned 42. Happy belated birthday, wherever you are, Aaliyah.
