Throwback: Happy 80th Birthday, David Sanborn!

We’ve somehow managed to survive through July so far, eh? Well, July is a busy month in music history.

David Sanborn was born on this day 80 years ago today. Sanborn was quietly — and at times quite loudly — a part of much of the music I’ve loved throughout my life, and I suspect the music that much of y’all have loved. He played sax on David Bowie‘s Young Americans. He worked with the great Bob JamesThe Brecker BrothersBryan FerryBootsy CollinsStevie WonderThe RootsGeorge Duke and countless others.

Sanborn’s work was legendary and that important. So celebrate the man’s work by playing his music.
