David Sanborn was born on this day 80 years ago today. Sanborn was quietly — and at times quite loudly — a part of much of the music I’ve loved throughout my life, and I suspect the music that much of y’all have loved. He played sax on David Bowie‘s Young Americans. He worked with the great Bob James, The Brecker Brothers, Bryan Ferry, Bootsy Collins, Stevie Wonder, The Roots, George Duke and countless others.
Sanborn’s work was legendary and that important. So celebrate the man’s work by playing his music.
