- Sly and the Family Stone frontman Sly Stone celebrated his 81st birthday on March 15
- Public Enemy‘s Flavor Flav celebrated his 65th birthday on March 16.
- The legendary Lee “Scratch” Perry was born 88 years ago on March 20.
- DJ Premier celebrated his 58th birthday on March 21
- Large Professor celebrated his 52nd birthday on March 21.
- Blur frontman and Gorillaz creative mastermind Damon Albarn celebrated his 56th birthday on March 23

Ric Ocasek was born 80 years ago on March 23. He was the founder, primary vocalist, songwriter and rhythm guitar player for the acclaimed and smash hit-producing New Wave outfit The Cars. As a kid, I loved New Wave — especially The Cars, The Police and Talking Heads.
Understandably, I have fond memories of The Cars — and man, those were some great fucking songs, huh?
