We’ve somehow made it to May y’all. 5 months in to a brutal slog of a calendar year. I’m exhausted and fed up. And I’m sure most of y’all out there feel the same. The terrible thing is that my sense is that things are going to get a lot worse. We’re in hell.
But there’s music, art, small pleasures, and every day joys. We’ll cling to that as much as possible.
- The legendary godfather of soul, the Soul Brother #1, James Brown was born 92 years ago today
The equally legendary Frankie Valli celebrates his 91st birthday today. As the front man of The Four Season and as a solo artist, Valli has 39 Top 40 hits — 29 with The Four Seasons, one under the Four Seasons side project The Wonder Who? and nine as a solo artist, including the Grease theme song “Grease.”
Valli along with Four Season original lineup, Tommy DeVito, Nick Massi and Bob Guadio, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 1999. He was also awarded a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame last year — a joint star for himself and for his bandmates. And in the last Grammy Awards, he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award — somehow marking his first and only Grammy Award win.
Happy birthday, legend!
