December is a rather auspicious month in music history:
- The Doors‘ John Densmore celebrated his 79th birthday on December 1
- Ozzy Osbourne celebrated his 75th birthday on December 3
- Jay-Z celebrated his 54th birthday on December 4
We also have to belatedly celebrate Montell Jordan‘s birthday. He turned 55 — 55! — on December 3, too. He was arguably one of the biggest R&B stars of the late 90s and early 00s: I have this particular memory of being in the old Virgin Megastore in Times Square late one random night, and the store had it playing. Suddenly, a bunch of people in their shitty basement cafe started dancing — including me.
Happy birthday, brother! May there be many many more!
