Throwback: R.I.P. Fred Smith

I stumbled onto a BrooklynVegan Instagram post which featured a picture of Television’s Fred Smith at a concert. Superimposed over the photo was simple text that read “Fred Smith 1948-2026.”

Along with his bandmates Tom Verlaine (vocals, guitar), Richard Lloyd (guitar), Billy Ficca (drums), Smith was an instrumental part of one of the most important, influential and defining albums of the early punk era, 1977’s debut effort Marquee Moon.

Long live Television! Long live Fred Smith!
