Throwback: R.I.P. Walter Scott

I was on Instagram when I saw Craig G post something about The Whispers‘ co-founder Walter Scott dying at the age of 81. I confirmed it through several different sources that it was indeed true.

The Whispers brought a lot of joy to people throughout the group’s 60+ year run together. Those songs are fucking amazing. When I’ve DJ’ed, I’ve always found a way to fit in a couple of Whispers tracks, because I want people to groove with me.

Certainly, if you’re Black, The Whispers were played at some point or another in your life, and it signifies so much more: hanging out at the barbecue, dancing at someone’s wedding, someone’s DJ set and on and on.

Long live Walter Scott! Long live The Whispers! Rest in peace, sir.
